Possibly the largest data leak in video game history occurred with the most recent GTA 6 breach. Over 90 footage from the game’s development by Rockstar Games have been making the rounds since last weekend. A hacker posted several gigabytes of gaming content online. The content, which was allegedly taken from an internal Slack group, is from the GTA spin-early off’s development stages. Leaks of the game have been taken off from the internet by Take Two Interactive. Nevertheless, the harm has already been done.
How Rockstar Reacted
Rockstar Games made a statement one day following the leak. The GTA 6 creator attested to the veracity of the leaked video material. It originates from the game’s early development, as was already assumed.
Rockstar expressed their “sadness” at the extent to which information about the game has already leaked to the public. The process of continued development would not be hampered by the leak, though. The project is still being worked on as scheduled. Additionally, Rockstar vowed to provide a new update soon.
Stocks Going Down
Even while most fans should continue to be extremely enthusiastic about GTA 6 and its popularity, this leak will likely be recalled for a very long time. Even though there were constantly rumors and insiders who leaked information, information about such a massive undertaking rarely reached the general public.
Now Take Two suffered the consequences, by having huge losses in the stock market.
The last 5 day days were pretty rough for Rockstar Games & Take Two, having a loss of 7%. But we are sure that Rockstar Games will save the boat, as always.
